Megamind

The film “Megamind,” directed by tom McGrath, has the talented voices of Will Ferrel, Tina Fey, David Cross, and Jonah Hill. It’s a great family film. In the movie, two aliens from different planets both arrive on Earth at infancy. They become somewhat of rivals growing up, and once they reach adulthood one is the hero and one is the villain; the villain being Mega mind (with Minion by his side). Through all Megamind’s failures of trying to beat Metroman (the hero), he finally ends up winning a fight that ends in death for Metroman. So Megamind finally has all control of the city and he takes over, but then he becomes bored since he has no one to fight with. Because of this, he comes up with a plan to make another superhero, which he successfully does. He creates Tighten, but he turns to evil. This all leads to Megamind having to stop Tighten; the villain has to become the hero.
What was great about the film were the characters. Each character stood out on their own and jump off the screen, especially Megamind. He was the most interesting character in the film; he always had interesting ways on saying certain words, like how he says the word “spider.” He is the funniest character in the film. The comedy was also a main element for the film. All the characters had their comedic moments, like Tighten and Minion. Tighten’s moments came with his superhero training, like when he was giving himself a “wedgie.” Minion’s comedic moments were whenever he was with Megamind, like when he told Megamind he thought they’d never beat Metroman. Without the comedy, the movie would not have been as successful.
The only thing I consider bad about “Megamind” is that it was a bit predictable. We all knew Megamind was going to turn out to be the hero and that his creation Tighten would fail. Other than this, there is absolutely nothing else that’s wrong with this movie. I can see why some people might think the filmmakers “over did it” with the comedy, but they didn’t. There was enough of other emotional responses from the audience; the comedy just fell into place. The film didn’t have joke after joke just for the sake of making people laugh.
I think it was a really entertaining family film. The cast did an amazing job with making each character stand out. The comedy was just perfect for the story, and keeps the audience’s attention. This film is something that I’d absolutely recommend for everyone who wants laugh, or just have a movie night with the family.

  1. I agree with Mayra. I enjoyed nearly every aspect of this animation with the exception of the predictable plot.
