Megamind and Young Frankenstein

The films “Megamind” and “Young Frankenstein” have various similarities and differences. They’re both about the main character making a dangerous creation. Although their reasoning may be different, a lot of the character’s are similar and have similar things happen to them.
In “Young Frankenstein” and “Megamind” both of the creations make a change because of love. Tighten becomes rejected by the “love of his life” Roxanne, so he turns to evil; the Monster somewhat turns to good when Frankenstein shows him “love” when he’s locked in the room with him. Another thing that’s similar is that women are the characters’ weakness. The Monster was attracted to Elizabeth; Frankenstein was attracted to Inga; Megamind and Tighten both fight because of Roxanne. The most important similarity is that both main characters became what they were fighting against. Megamind started out as the villain fighting the hero, and he became the hero at the end; Frankenstein continued to fight the fact that he was related to the “mad” scientist Victor Frankenstein, yet he did exactly what his grandfather did.
In “Megamind,” Megamind creates Tighten for basically good intentions, while Frankenstein creates the Monster out of his scientific curiosity. This adds to the difference that Frankenstein’s creation was morally and socially wrong, rather than Megamind’s. Another difference is that Megamind’s character arc is larger than Frankenstein’s. Megamind completely turns to good, while Frankenstein just learns to deal with his creation.
Both “Megamind” and “Young Frankenstein” have characters affected by love, but their changes are different. The two films can be categorized in the same section because of their similarities, but they also have many differences.

  1. I agree with you that love is the main similarity in these films. A woman really is the only thing that can stop a mad man. Megamind was way funnier in my opinion Will Ferral just kills Gene Wilder even in animation.
