Red and It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

The films Red and It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World both revolve around a group of funny, corky people. These aren’t your average people; all of them have some interesting trait to them. There are more differences than similarities when comparing these two films, although they both fall under a group comedy.
There are a few similarities in the film, which were somewhat difficult to pick out. First of all, the characters in both films are being chased by some sort of law enforcement. In Red, they’re being chased to be killed, while in It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World they’re being chased so that the characters lead the police to where the old man buried money. Another thing is that as the movies progress, more and more people become involved and “join” the group or quest. Lastly, both films take place “on the road,” following the characters to their destination.
There are a lot more differences in these two films. In Red, the characters being chased are all retired CIA, while in It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, the characters are basically civilians. Another major difference is that Red’s character are on a quest to survival, while the other film has the characters on a quest to find hidden money, out of greed. Also, the groups are formed differently in the films. In one, as the group forms, they stick together, while in the other, they start out as a giant group, but split up into smaller groups early in the film. Basically in It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, the film follows the various small groups (as well as the newcomers), while in Red, the film mainly follows the same group throughout.
There is a wide variety of similarities and differences. Although both films seem very different, they have the same basic idea. A big, funny, entertaining group of people all on the road to complete a task.
